The Cleveland Athletic Club consists of local sports enthusiasts, men and women, working together to provide facilities, recreation, and entertainment for residents of Cleveland and the surrounding area.

Membership is open to all and available for only $5.00 per year.

The Cleveland Athletic Club yearly activities include many levels of play, click on the league you're interested in to get more details and the old play schedule for 2004... Wildcat's schedule is for 2005.

Cleveland Wildcat’s Baseball Team

The Cleveland Wildcats are a team of local talent young men ages 18 and up. The Wildcats play in the East Shore Baseball League. Games are played on Sunday afternoons. Home games are played at Veteran’s Memorial Park. Play begins the beginning of May. For information or game schedule information email or call Dale Wagner at 693-3650.  Bold dates are home games.

Men’s Over 30 Softball League

This league plays on Thursday evenings at Veteran’s Memorial Park. The players must be a minimum of 30 years old during the season to play. Game times are 7:00, 8:00 & 9:00 P.M. Contact Dennis Roethel at 894-4834. Play begins the end of May.

Men’s & Women’s Slow Pitch Softball Tournament

The Athletic Clubs main fundraiser for the year is a softball tournament for both men and women. It is held in July on the weekend following the 4th of July. It is a double elimination tournament with cash prizes. It is an open roster tournament with rosters set at the first game. Profits are used for project to upgrade facilities at Veteran’s Memorial Park.  For information on the summer tournament call Dennis Roethel at 894-4834 or Dale Wagner at 693-3650.

 

Co-Ed Volleyball League

The co-ed volleyball league plays its games on the courts behind the VFW building at Maple St. & Park Lane on Tuesday evenings.  Matches begin at 6:30 P.M. playing in 2 divisions, recreational and competitive. There are 4 sand courts and some of the best lighting in the area.  If you would like information on entering a team, or you're looking for a team to play on, call Ron Schisel at 693-3280.

Cleveland Little League

There are Little League teams for both boys and girls for ages from 6-18. For girls there is Jr. Girl’s softball, Grade School Girls Modified Softball, and High School Girls Fast Pitch Softball.

For the boys’ Peanut baseball, Pee Wee Baseball, Pony Baseball and Colt Baseball are the divisions for participation.

The Cleveland Athletic Club holds a special sign up night in April for all of these leagues. The club also maintains and prepares all the infields for Little League play, as well as running a concession stand for all of these games. Coaches and umpires are all volunteers, if you want to sign up a child or coach or umpire call Wally Leonard at 693- 8149

Grade School Basketball Fundamentals

In January the Athletic Club conducts a 3-week course in basketball fundamentals at the Cleveland Elementary School. The grades K-2 have a 3-week course of the basics of basketball it is held on Monday nights 6:00 P.M. – 7:15 P.M.  The grades 3-5, 3-week course follows the week after K-2 fundamentals is concluded. This is open for any child in the Cleveland area. Following the conclusion of each class, several basketballs are raffled off in each group. Cleveland Athletic Club members give all lessons. Cleveland Athletic Club Scholarship

Since 1993 the Cleveland Athletic Club has given out scholarships to deserving students. Starting out at a modest $250 the club now gives out up to 2- $1000 scholarships.  The scholarship fund is funded through a raffle and a brat fry held in February. To be eligible for the scholarship the student must meet the following qualifications. The student must live in the 53015 Zip Code areas or live in the 693 phone number exchange. They must also have participated in sports in high school or some other venue. Applications are available at the guidance offices of all local high schools or contact Rosemary Leonhard at 693-8149.
